CREDENTIALS: J.W. Private Investigators

CLASS CRITERIA:

1.  Must be 18 years of age
     (I.D./proof of age may be required)
2.  Grade 10, 12 or equivalent (GED)
3.  CPIC required
4.  ABSOLUTELY NO:
  • alcohol
  • drugs
  • being under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be tolerated.  (cause for "Automatic Dismissal")
5.  One hour exam with 55 multiple choice questions.
6.  Passing mark = 75%
7.  Successful Course Completion will merit a "Certificate" which states participant has met the Standard Requirements to work as a Security Guard within the Security Business in Saskatchewan.

Course cost:
  • $275 per student
  • Method of Payment: CASH, Money Order, Certified Cheque (NO personal cheques will be accepted) made payable to Joseph Watson
  • MUST be prepaid one week in advance of course (in order to secure your seat)
  • ALL materials supplied by Facilitators/Instructor

COURSE: Outline

Duration:
40 hours = 1 week of 5 days





 
  • Each participant must complete 40 classroom hours of training
  • Upon completion of the Course, the participant must take and pass a 55 multiple choice exam
  • Passing grade = 75%
  • This test is administered and graded by Saskatchewan Justice
  • The good of this Course is to increase the knowledge base of Individual Security Officer, thereby increasing the level of safety enjoyed by both the officer and the public encountering private security.

THE COURSE:

This is a very comprehensive, basic training course designed to provide training to:
  • guards
  • public industry members
  • personal clients
  • general public

with issues that challenge the Security Industry on a daily basis.

It also provides skilled and trained individuals in the case of emergencies, man-made or natural hazards.  Also work hand-in-hand at the community level to ensure a safe surrounding to residents, children, buildings and properties.

The Security Industry is growing vastly across the country.

The Course covers all aspects of security work including but not limited to the following:
  • The private Investigators and Security Guards Act and the Regulations Act 1997.
  • Duties, responsibilities of Security Guards
  • Patrolling, manning posts, taking notes, report writing
  • First Aid, Fire Safety, WHMIS, Bomb Threats
  • Criminal Law (as it relates to the Security Industry)
  • Police/Security Guard relations
This Course is 40 hours in duration and provided through the Private Investigator and Security Training Manual, Corrections, Public Safety and Policing of Saskatchewan Justice (Regina) -training manual.

OBJECTIVES:

To provide professional Private Investigators/Security Guards the knowledge and experience to work in the Security Industry and areas such as:

  • mines
  • pipelines
  • industrial
as well as private/public sector.


Also, experience Trained Security Guards would assist their First Nation at the community level. 

These trained personnel would be very helpful to the R.C.M.P. in keeping the community from vandalism to schools, business, office and private homes as well as prepare for any unplanned emergencies.

My name is Joseph (Joe) Watson, from Mistawasis First Nation.  I am a Certified Security Guard as well as a Certified Course Provider through Saskatchewan Justice.  I started this company in 2009.  I have been in the Security Courses in Saskatchewan--First Nations throughout Saskatchewan.  I have been in the Security Guard Industry for approximately 8 - 9 years.
